Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1300

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in glorious but very cold conditions. The sun was shining, there was almost no clouds and we could also see the moon. There was also very little wind meaning the waves were good too. Shortly after setting off we were greated by a head, it was a seal! In total we saw 3 over the trip. All of them were very close to the boat which was cool. We also then saw a harbour porpoise for a very short time. It made one quick leap above the water before disappearing again to find food. After this we passed around Videy and saw what we were looking for. A big, black back appeared in the distance. It was a humpback whale! To be more precise it was Ekki! As is typical with Ekki we never saw a fluke dive, at one stage we got close with it being raise centimetres above the water. But they still came very close to us giving us amazing views of their whole body. After spending a good time with this whale we moved on to see if we could see anything else. Nothing else appeared so we enjoyed the beautiful scenery including some cool icicles. But then very near the end of the tour we saw another blow. It was another humpack, this time it was Calamity. They did some beautiful fluke dives for us to see giving us a wonderful end to the tour.
