      CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Today despite the warm sun we sailed across the bay with a chilly wind and quite of a swell. The visibility was pretty good and we could spot few bird flocks far in the distance. After a while we spotted 2 minke whales, one very elusive and the other busy feeding. We also saw another third individual, and it was Humpie, a minke we already know. We could see it very well as it came closer to the port side. Then we spotted other splashes in front of us and we saw a pod of 5 white beaked dolphins being very friendly: they jumped and swam underneath the boat all around us. It was very nice! Then the time was almost to the end but we could enjoy the hard sun during all the journey back!

      CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We started the tour with some wind blowing from the northwest. It was a bit cold but the sun was warming all us up so it was nice to stay outside using one of our overalls. We headed out and we were able to find 2 minke whales. We spent some time with them and we decided to continue as we were informed of the presence of a humpback whale in the area. Some time later, we found it. It was a bit elusive but we were able to spot couple of fluke dives. Something the made our passengers very happy. After that, we headed back to Reykjavik in a very comfortable ride.

      CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The wind picked up a bit this afternoon but conditions were still good with good sunny sky. We reached an area with a lot of big flocks of birds and there was 2-3 minke whales feeding there. We observed them surfacing for a while until big splashes appeared further away made by 3-4 jumping white-beaked dolphins. We went there, they surfaced once before disappearing. We came back to see the minke whales that were also being a bit tricky to spot and after a while the dolphins jumped again. Once more we approached them and they disappeared. We decided to explore a further area and spotted a blow from afar. On our way 2-3 harbour porpoises showed themselves a few times very close to the boat, even visible through the water. We saw the blow 2 more times meanwhile reaching the area 15 minutes after but could not find the animal. We went back to the minke whales and this time they were much easier to observe, feeding close to the flocks of birds.

      CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 19:00

Report from Eldey: It was a bit wavy, like the rest of the day as we started our sail in the bay in the nice sunset light. We traveled toward areas where we had seen some wildlife in the previous tours. As we navigated around these areas we saw a splash, and as we got closer we saw briefly a minke whale breaching once, or at least only a few people including the crew noticed it in the waves. This minke did not show up again so we continued our way and noticed some white beaked dolphins, 3 of them that came very fast toward the boat and disappeared as fast as they appeared. It is wildlife, sometimes it goes like this. We went more toward areas where we previously had minke whales, the crew noticed one very fast and that was it. Because of the sightings, as we got very close to the harbour we decided to offer our passengers complimentary tickets to give them the opportunity to come on another tour where sightings will hopefully be better and they will be able to admire better the beauty of the cetaceans in the bay !

      CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 14:00

Report from Hafsulan: Sailed out to choppy Faxaflói bay with warm wind in our faces. Soon big flocks of birds started gathering so we headed in their direction. 3 harbour porpoises were seen by few and then minke whales started to pop up in all directions, some close others bit further away. We estimated that there were 15-20 minkes in the area so we stayed for the duration of the tour in the same spot as there was plenty to see. A true minke kinda day.
