Report from Elding: It was a lovely afternoon with some southwesterly winds bringing a little swell into the bay but the sun was shining and everyone was happy. The bay was quite quiet with cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) today but full of birdlife, this is a little strange because usually lots of birds means lots of fish which the whales of course also eat. We first sailed south to an area where a humpback whale was spotted earlier in the day but unfortunately it had moved on, we then travelled northwest and heard from another whale watching boat that went north first that they saw a blow. Yes a humpback whale, it was a little bit of a gumpy humpie as it was unpredictable and difficult to follow. It was taking quite long dives and we had to be patient, eventually we got a very nice, high tail up (fluke) when it went down for a dive. We could see that we haven´t seen this individual so far this season so there does seem to be quite a few making their way through the bay. Time was running out now and so we had to go home.

✔ PREMIUM TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 10:00
Report from Þruma RIB: This morning the weather was half cloudy half sunny and the sea calmer than the previous day, a bit choppy but not uncomfortable, so we enjoyed to look for the whales in such conditions. We started with a stop at Engey, to observe the atlantic puffins gathering on the islands near Reykjavik. We went further in the bay looking for cetaceans. There was flocks of birds which are generally good sign and interesting to watch but there was no whales. We continued our tour until we finally found a humpback whale. The beautiful marine mammal was hard to approach with a very random pattern of diving and no fluke dive, but we could see it surfacing many times. It is interesting that sightings are so different from one another. We left this humpback to explore another areas and came back to the harbour.
