Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The weather wasn't great when we left the harbour this afternoon, what with the ceaseless rain and bitter winds. However, that gave everyone a good excuse to stay cosy and warm in the saloons while drinking some hot cocoa. After trying our hardest to find some animals, we were were rewarded by a pretty amazing pod of 10 harbour porpoises that paraded themselves in front of the boat and stuck with us for  quite a while. However as these were the only cetaceans to pop up on our tour and as they did so very late, we decided to give out complimentary tickets.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Eldey: Well the weather made sure that no one could forget which country they are in. Strong winds and rain combined with higher waves than expected made this an adventurous trip. We sailed out as far as time allowed, also back to an area that had been great yesterday. But like we always say, the animals we look for are unpredictable and don't have any one certain spot to show. Thus, with difficult spotting conditions, we unfortunately did not get to see any cetaceans on this trip. Of course everyone was offered a complimentary ticket to come out again with us either from Reykjavík or with our boat up north in Akureyri.

- Sabrina Voswinkel

Bird species seen on today's tours include: northern gannets, eider ducks, common guillemots, northern fulmars and greater black-backed gulls.

Status: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. The forecast shows rain and some wind during the day and there will be some movement on the boat out on Faxabay. If you are sensitive to motion sickness we offer preventative tablets in the ticket office, free of charge! On board there are heated indoor areas but we also have overalls to keep you warm out on deck. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact our ticket office at elding@elding.is or +354 519 5000.
