minke whale back

Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
  • PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00, 14:00

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out this morning under the glorious Icelandic sun. It was quite windy at times during the tour but the lovely mountains of Esja and Akrafjall gave us protection. We had a really nice view of these mountains during out tour as well as Akranes and Hvalfjörður. Unfortunately we were not lucky enough to see any cetaceans during the tour this morning but we did some some spectacular seabirds including the Northern gannet. We therefore offered all our passengers complimentary tickets so they can come back again and hopefully have better luck.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed around the coast today and not further out in the bay because of the swell and strong Northern wind. Despite the rough sea, a clear sky and sunny vibes were with us all the time. After sailing a bit, we spotted 1 minke whale!! and we stayed with this individual for a few time and we could see the blow and the body quite close to us. People got excited and we managed to see and reach a second individual of minke whale still in the same area. Even if it was quite chilly, all the passengers stayed outside enjoying the whales and the sun. Then I spotted a pod of 3 harbour porpoises that came very close to the boat and they were super cute! To end very well the tour, right close to Videy island, we saw another minke whale, totally unexpected. This one left a big smile to all the people on boat and everyone was quite happy and satisfied.
