Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: woo-hoo woo-hoo Christmas is getting closer and the ocean is still giving us precious gifts to enjoy beforehand. Not only the weather was perfect, the sea state was mirror like and the wind was completely absent but wildlife was incredible. Just before we left we got a call the a whale had been seen in front of the harbour, we couldn't believe it. So we went out in a rush due to this promising animal and, indeed, there she was. A beautiful humpback whale who was chilling out in front of Videy island. It was glorious to see this whale so relaxed and with the incredible scenery of Kollafjordur. We were amused by this animal and when we were about to leave it behind, she came closer to us in a last greeting attempt so we could realize that it was a juvenile. We decided to sail out to discover flat seas and tons of birds, specially razorbills and guillemots. It was marvelous to be out there today.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Eldey: It was still dark when we left harbour behind but we used this time to sail towards our best whale watching grounds. Weather for sailing was great and it looks like it will be like that next days: flat sea and no wind. Such a good weather is something to appreciate in the end of November. After 40 min of sailing air started to smell like a tuna sandwich and soon we spotted first dorsal fins. Huge pod of white-beaked dolphins was having a breakfast. It´s hard to estimate how many of them was there as dolphins were spread around into smaller pods but we saw them everywhere on horizon. Maybe there was something like 30-40 in our range. But we weren't´t only watching them from distance because dolphins were also bow ridding, swimming along our sides and even jumping! After wonderful time with them we went to search for other cetaceans but apparently we used all of our luck for the dolphins this morning.
