Tour at 13:00

There was even less wind in this tour then in the morning and the sea was calm as a mirror. It was great to sail in such a peacefully bay again. And it didn't take us long until we encountered our first Minke Whale of the tour. Heading further out, we found a second Minke Whale and a pod of Harbour Porpoises. We decided to head again a bit further out and there was a pod of slow travelling White Beaked Dolphins, the third species of the tour!!! On the way back we spotted more and more Minke Whales and Harbour Porpoises, as we were running out of time we just stopped one more time. But this was absolutely great as there were two Minke Whales surfacing at the same time with a group of Harbour Porpoises in between!!! It is nice to compare their sizes when you see them at the same time. A great afternoon, in a calm bay with a lot of whales around us.

Tour at 9:00

Beginning the day in Reykjavík older harbour the conditions to search for the Whales of Faxaflói Bay were perfect, the sea was calm and there were no strong winds. Due to these circumstances it should have been easy to spot the whales, but they seemed not to be very interested in being observed by us. It was a great tour regarding the amount of species we found, which were a Humpback Whale, Minke Whales and Harbour Porpoises!!! But even these are almost all species we can encounter in the bay, all those individuals seemed to be busy and hard to spot. A challenging morning, with a lot of different species in a calm sea.
