Report from Eldey: the conditions only improved as the day progressed. The sea was still, the sky blue and perfect wildlife spotting conditions. The first cetacean of the trip were a group of 6-8 harbour porpoises that were slowly rolling at surface as we sailed en route to our preferred spotting location. This encounter gave our passengers their first excited look at cetaceans and allowed them to train their eyes on what signs to watch out for. As we approached our main areas many minke whales were seen as their black backs shone in the sunlight. Roughly 5 whales were seen, with some curious individuals coming within 20m of the ship. Soon after, the splash created by fast moving white beaked dolphins was observed in the distance. The dolphins behaviour was much more restful as we neared and provided great views for those on board.

Report from Eldey: What a glorious morning we had! As the sun was slowly rising the harbour was coloured by dark blue and orange shades, and during our way out the sun kept getting higher and the bay was lit in all its magnificence. To top all of that we had a calm sea, so our cruising was ideal. Soon enough, we joined an area where we found 3 minke whales. One of them was much smaller than the other, most likely a young individual, and initiated a thrilling cat and mouse game with us. As we were following it it kept changing sides and go back and forth! During this encounter we also sighted a couple of harbour porpoises that did not seem to want to tag along. We stayed with the minkes for a while, we secured close looks, and when it was time we went home with still top notch weather conditions.
