Report from Eldey:  Brrrrrrr! a very cold afternoon tour but it was beautiful. Even though the sun was shining the wind caused very chilly conditions. We wrapped up warm in the free onboard overalls and hot chocolates that can be purchased at the bar. It took us a while but after about 1hr 20mins we saw a bushy blow. Humpback Whale!!! This individual was very hungry, after about 5 surfaces the back arched, fluke rose above the surface and dove to the seabed to feed for about 6 1/2mins before surfacing and starting the sequence again. After taking some pictures we could confirm it was the same individual as yesterday. Soon we got word from another boat of the second humpback abot a mile away and s we stopped at that individual too before we headed back to port. A fantastic afternoon with 2 humpback whales.

Report from Eldey: Another winterly and frosty but just beautiful morning. The simple beauty of the snow covererd landscape is just something so special. Having clear skies and the sun painting the skies in the red of dawn just added to it. We sailed to the areas where on both tours yesterday we had our first humpback whales of the season and were so optimistic when we saw that there were hundreds of birds all around, of all species and actively feeding. We searched not only the areas where we had seen them yesterday but covered a vast part of our bay. While we did see 2-3 harbour porpoises feeding amongst hundreds of birds, we did not succeed with the larger species this morning. Of course we want to provide a better experience to our passengers and thus offered complimentary tickets for a free return trip to their most convenient time anytime in the next two years.

Birds seen on today's tours include: cormorant, northern fulmar, razorbill, kittiwake, northern gannet, eider duck, black-backed gull, black-headed gull, common guillemot, black-legged kittiwake.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today for the tour at 9:00 and 13:00. There is always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office.
