Tour at 13:00

During the second tour today the wind had picked up so we had quite many white wave tops which made it harder to search but the sea condition itself was still pretty good. We headed out and this time around it was more difficult to find the whales. We spotted two Minke Whales to begin with but both of them were really difficult to follow, we also spotted some Harbour Porpoises but it was mainly the splashes we were seeing but not the Harbour Porpoises themselves. We then sailed to a different area and after searching for a while a passenger spotted a Minke Whale right behind us at 6 o'clock, we turned the boat around and it came up about 4-5 more times REALLY close to the boat, the sea was so beautiful and you were able to see the whale each time for so long through the surface before it actually surfaced, really good, and at one point we were even able to see the fluke which is very rare when it comes to Minke Whales. When heading back to the harbour we spotted some nice Harbour Porpoises as well. We then ended the tour by stopping by Akurey to see the Puffins. This time around there weren't many of them only few were on the Island. Most of them were probably feeding out in the bay since we spotted so many of them during the tour along with Kittiwakes, Lesser-Black backed Gulls, Guillemots, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars and Arctic Terns.

Tour at 09:00

This morning tour was so nice, the sea was calm and the sun was shining. We started the tour by stopping by Akurey to have a look at the Puffins, there were quite many there this morning, some on the Island itself and others at the sea and flying around Akurey. We then headed further out and it only took us about half an hour to get to the area where we spotted our first Minke Whale, and at the same time Harbour Porpoises surfaced really close to the boat. There were many birds in the area today like Lesser-Black-backed Gulls, Puffins, Guillemots, Arctic Skuas, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Gannets and Arctic Terns and we spotted at least 5 rather big flocks of feeding birds and once under one of them we saw splashes from a Minke Whale feeding under the birds but when we got closer to it the whale was done feeding and was swimming away. During the tour we spotted many Minke Whales some surfacing really close to us and others further away, some Harbour Porpoises came also really close to the boat at one point. All in all a really great tour with nice whales and good sea conditions.
