Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We went out from Reykjavík again in the afternoon tour, but decided to look for cetaceans in a different area than this morning. After a while we encountered a small pod of harbour porpoises and slowed down to take a closer look, when suddenly the blow of a whale appeared in a short distance. We tried to get a little closer to the whale and waited for it to surface again, but we didn't spot it another time. Since we only saw the blow and not the animal itself, it is hard to tell whether it was a humpback whale or a minke whale, the two most common whale species in Faxaflói. As we decided to move on, we encountered a second group of harbour porpoises traveling into the opposite direction of our boat. We did not find any other whales or dolphins on this tour, and so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets, valid for the next two years, so that they can come with us on another tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Elding: We went out from Reykjavík this morning. Due to the strong winds in the last days, the sea was quite rough and challenging today. After about 1.5 hours some passengers spotted a black back in the waves, so we stopped the boat to wait for the animal to come up to the surface again. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the animal again and continued our search for cetaceans. Since we did not find any other whales or dolphins, we offered our passengers complimentary tickets, valid for the next two years, and hope they will come with us on another tour.
