CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Even though we had to cancel in the morning for weather reasons, we still set out full of hope as we had been having great sightings the past weeks. We headed South East for many miles, all the way towards Hafnarfjordur. We did not have success there, so we turned in the opposite direction, but we did not find any cetaceans there either. To finish, we went nearly all the way towards Whalefjord, in order to cover as much area as possible, but again, we were not successful. We gave out complimentary tickets to come back again.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Eldey:

We sailed out from Reykjavik, in waters so still,
With calm seas ahead, not a single chill.
The breeze kissed my face as we ventured away,
And what did we spot? A whale near Engey!

A minke, so graceful, it surfaced so near,
"Is that a rock?!" Nope—a whale, my dear!
We gasped in surprise as it swam without fear,
A giant right by us, practically here!

Then out to the deep, where the  (7) dolphins took flight,
White-beaked and bouncing, what a joyful sight!
They leaped and they danced, like acrobats proud,
“Are they showing off?!” someone yelled out loud.

Then, calm and majestic, a humpback appeared,
No splashing or breaching, just chilling—so weird.
He gave us a glance, like, “What’s up, my crew?”
Then swam off in peace, all calm and mellow.

In the event of unfavourable weather or unstable sea conditions, we sometimes have to cancel our tours for safety reasons. But that doesn't mean you can't make the most of your day in the city! There are numerous things to do in Reykjavík on a rainy day and many of our partners even offer tours that are less weather dependent than ours.

The ocean currents in the area create excellent conditions for feeding grounds and the long period of light during the summer provides the right environment for the plankton and krill, making it a diverse and abundant bay. A successful tour is a team effort, and our crew works closely together with the passengers on spotting the wildlife, making each tour an exciting and unforgettable experience.
