Report from Eldey: Winter afternoon sails! The afternoon tour started with a refreshing drizzle that was welcoming our cruise to the bay. Lots of people dressed up in the red of our fancy overalls to fight the rain back, and with high spirits we begun our adventure. The tour was going through the swell, perfect for rollercoaster fans. And then, one hour and a half into the tour we were lucky enough to cross our paths with a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins! The animals started out very elusive and hard to keep up with but eventually they started surfing the waves and getting really close to us, so our passengers could get a close-up from the bow of Eldey. A very nice winter adventure today with Elding!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 9:00

Report from Eldey: The North was wearing winter clothes today indeed! The bay woke up rainy today, so before the tour everyone on board grabbed one of our free overalls to be ready for the moody Icelandic weather. The cruise went in the mist, which with the rain, was giving to Faxafloi a mysterious look. We kept our course, and in our way lots of beautiful northern gannets met us while looking for fish. The rain decided to give us some truce, which made the searching for our dear whales and dolphins easier. Unfortunately, as much as we looked no whales were found, and a complementary ticket for an extra free ride was issued to everyone that would like to join Elding for one more time!

Birds seen today include: common guillemot, eider duck, northern fulmar, northern gannet, black-backed gull, black-headed gull,  Iceland gull, great cormorant, snow bunting

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. there could always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
