Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: it was another windy and rainy tour from Hafnarfjörður and again we sailed to the west towards Keflavik. We saw some life there this morning so we hoped the Minke Whale would still be around, even if only for a quick look. However, it had decided to leave the area and none other of his kind were available either. At one point a few (3-5) Harbour Porpoises made a quick visit but that was it from Order Cetacea (whales, dolphins, and porpoises) on this tour. We did some things though to keep up the spirit on the tour. We sailed close to the cliffs next to Keflavik to give passengers a chance to look at the seabirds, most notably Kittiwake. And there were numerous Northern Gannets and Fulmars on the sea today but that was it. We decided to give complimentary tickets in the end and hope for a better (and dryer) day tomorrow.

Tour at 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan : We sailed this morning from Hafnafjörður, and sailed along the shore of the peninsula of Reykjanes. We entered a bay close to the land with the airport and city of Keflavík in the background, when the guide saw a Minke Whale that we saw surfacing again but then just disappeared in the deep blue of the ocean. But at the same time, we found Harbour Porpoises surfacing all around the boat. Quite a big pod of them, some were really fast swimming in different directions and even a bit leaping really close to the boat that everybody had a good look at these small cute and normally shy creatures. Weather was better at the beginning of the tour, we got wet then but people all had the overalls on.
