Report from Eldey: A warm, wet blustery day on the bay with the awesome humpback whale that have keep us company and helped us alot the last days in these rouge seas to stay close to the coast. Took us a little longer to find the whale today, feeding under a flock of birds, it then travelled a few km out to sea, occasionally raising its tail, especially at time the guide did not have the camera ready. Most of the time the humpback whale stayed a distance away and we kept our distance too but on the last surface the humpback whale surfaced just 50m from our boat, after a few shallow dives it took one last breath, arched its back and then showed its beautiful tail (fluke) this time camera was ready! whoo hoo.. Not only was the humpback whale awesome but the birdlife was also great and diverse. Please see below of what birds we saw.

- Megan Whittaker

Birds seen today include: eider ducks, northern fulmars, black-headed gulls, glaucous gulls, iceland gulls, herring gulls, red-throated divers, greater-black backed gulls, common guillemots, black guillemots, black-legged kittiwakes, little auks, razorbills, northern gannets.

We will be sailing from the Old Harbour today at 13:00þ It will be quite windy so the sea today will be quite rough. We do offer complimentary sea sickness tablets for those who want. For  further information, please contact us by email at elding@elding.is or by calling +354 519 5000.
