- NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 22:00
Today's Whale Watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
Tonight we are expecting an aurora activity of 3/9, S-E 3m/s and -2 °C. The moon is Waning Gibbous and 97% illuminated. Partly clouded skies are forecast in the area.
On this grey & calm spring morning we set sail, with fulmars keeping us company on the way out. We soon had a brief sighting of a minke whale. It came up a few times but quickly left, so we continued searching. In the end, we didn‘t manage to see anything else so gave our passengers complimentary tickets to try their luck again. In the afternoon, the snow had picked up and we headed out full of hope. We briefly spotted 2-4 shy harbour porpoises but unfortunately nothing bigger, so again gave our passengers complimentary tickets to try again another time!
Tonight we are expecting an aurora activity of 5/9, S 4m/s and -1°C. The moon is Full and 99% illuminated. Partly cloudy skies are forecast in the area.
We started the day with some bad weather conditions, so we made the decision to cancel our morning departure, for the safety of our passengers. Fortunately, the weather improved in the afternoon and we were delighted to set out for our afternoon tour. There was still some swell, and had a mixture of all weathers. Soon, we found 3 Orcas! These three were travelling together moving quickly, a breathtaking experience!
Due to rough seas and fully clouded skies, we have decided to cancel our Northern Lights cruise tonight. For more info, contact us via email at elding@elding.is, or by phone at +354 519 5000
