On a grey and windy day we went out to Hafnarfjörður once more, in searching for wildlife - and soon enough we were surprised by a humpback whale. In the afternoon the sea was mildly choppy, nevertheless, our patience paid off when a humpback whale unexpectedly surfaced! It dove quickly, but within a few minutes, it reappeared, taking another deep breath.
We sailed out into the bay this morning as the sun was just rising and it looked like the sky was on fire. We again sailed towards Hafnarfjörður and soon spotted a feeding humpback whale! In the afternoon we headed to the same area and saw the same humpback whale we saw earlier. This time it was surfacing a lot and 1 time showed his fluke just a little bit.

We could see northern lights as soon as we left the harbour tonight! They started off fairly faint but it didn't take long for them to get bigger and stronger and at one point they were covering the whole sky!

With a kp level of 3, we were hopeful for a good spectacle, and soon enough, we saw the northern lights! They quickly became very bright and the show lasted the whole - we even saw a corona forming above our heads and wisps on top of mt. Esja.
We had another beautiful sunrise as we left the harbour and sailed towards Hafnarfjörður. We first saw a humpback whale in very shallow waters and later found a second feeding humpback whale! In the afternoon we headed to the same area, and found 2 humpback whales (one of them was our friend Calamity) - we had a great encounter with this individual!

Our night started out promising as we could see some faint northern lights just outside the harbour walls. However, they never got stronger, so we of course issued complimentary tickets to all our guests, so they can return and try again another time!
We were treated to a beautiful sunrise as we made our way to Hafnarfjörður, where we spotted a humpback whale. In the afternoon we sailed close to the shore, and again saw a blow near the harbour in Hafnarfjörður! It turned out to be from 2 humpback whales! They were very busy feeding on sprat and we could see the inside of their mouths at times even!
What a morning! We were greeted by the most incredible sunrise as we sailed towards Hafnarfjörður, and just as we approached the harbour, we spotted 3 harbour porpoises and 2 humpback whales feeding together. We sailed to the same are in the afternoon and saw the 2 humpback whales, still lunge feeding, surrounded by northern gannets!

What a night! We sailed into the bay hopeful, as the KP index was 4! We could see Jupiter, Mars, and Venus and then out of nowhere, the sky lit up! The northern lights came out, and they were absolutely unreal - dancing across the sky in pink and green!

We headed out into the bay with high hopes, but unfortunately the auroras were shy tonight, so the only thing we saw were stars and Venus. Once the tour came to an end, we issued complimentary tickets to our patient guests.
This morning we headed to the same place we found a whale yesterday and we got lucky again! We saw lots of northern gannets diving, and soon enough, 3 lunge feeding humpback whales surfaced (one of which was Pongo)! The afternoon saw the same 3 humpback whales, still feeding really close to shore! What a great day at sea!

It was cloudier than expected, but we had a good view of Jupiter, Mars, and Venus. Suddenly, the entire boat gasped and pointed to the sky - the northern lights had appeared and were dancing above us in vivid green and pink swirls!
In the morning we saw plunge diving northern gannets and a few grey seals feeding on their scraps. Not long after, we had found a humpback whale - it was our friend Pongo! In the afternoon we found a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins and 2 harbour porpoises, however due to the quick sightings we issued complimentary tickets.
