Spirits were high as we were leaving the harbour, as we had a good Kp predictive index, and absolutely clear skies. The northern lights did not disappoint, because we had action right from the start with a double arch to the west of mt. Esja.

It was cloudy as we left the arbour, but things quickly changed! Before we knew it, we had clear skies and could see the Big Dipper. We had incredible bright green northern lights above us and some great dancing lights above mt. Esja.

They sky was clear, the wind was calm and the waves sleepy. After some 20 minutes we spotted a blow close to mt. Esja - it was a humpback whale. It began traveling along the shore, sometimes going too close to land, so we had to be careful. It eventually did a very beautiful flukes dive before we returned to the harbour.

Even though it was a little chilly, the golden hour light made the whole bay look like something out of a postcard. About 15 minutes in, we spotted two humpback whales and then soon after, a third humpback whale! This time, we got an incredible close-up of its fluke as it dove down. The excitement on board was contagious!

We were hopeful as we left the harbour as we had spotted a blow in the distance from the start! It was a humpback whale very close to the entrance of Skarfabakki harbour. We then found 2 more humpback whales diving and feeding. Throughout the tour, we also saw at least 10 harbour seals, some of them getting very close!

It was warmer than the previous days, and as soon as we left the port the action started! Just west of Viðey, we saw a blow of a humpback whale, and on closer inspection we saw that there was a second and third one nearby. We also saw plenty of harbour seals, and a small group of harbour porpoises next to the islands!
