The forecast was promising and as we headed out into the bay we saw faint northern lights that got a little bit stronger before disappearing completely. Unfortunately they did not return, so we issued complimentary tickets to all our guests.
We sailed out into a calm bay and stumbled upon 10-15 white-beaked dolphins. We also saw two humpback whales! In the afternoon we saw a blow near the islands close to Reykjavík - it was from our friend, Banana the humpback whale! As we made our way further into the bay we found a second humpback whale, feeding - and we even got a glimpse of a grey seal!

In the afternoon we encountered a pod of 3 harbour porpoises and about 3 humpback whales, all of them showing us their flukes. Then, a minke whale popped up at the harbour entrance!
Under the starry morning sky, we set sail and soon found about 4 solitary humpback whales and even 2 minke whales popping up periodically. In the afternoon we spotted 2 harbour porpoises and about 3 solo humpback whales. One was surfacing sporadically so we focused our attention on another individual who was easier to follow, and even came quite close!

We found a logging humpback whale just 5 minutes outside the harbour this morning. We saw its white pectoral fins and blowhole and watched it's beautiful fluke when it dove. In the afternoon, we again found the same humpback whale which had woken up from its slumber and was now travelling the area. We also encountered an elusive minke whale.

The day started with a dramatic sunrise and the sea was calm as a lake and it didn't take long before we found a humpback whale! We went around the islands to seek more but all we found was a fast harbour seal. In the afternoon we again found the sleepy humpback whale from this morning. We also spotted a minke whale, swimming very frantically!
This morning we were greeted by a beautiful sunrise and quite quickly we found a resting humpback whale and then a big minke whale which we managed to spend a good while with. In the afternoon we found the humpback whale from the morning tour within 15 minutes. We got to see it log on the surface and dive a few times before it was time to head back home.
- NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00
The northern lights were out already as we left the harbour and we were able to enjoy them during the whole tour. Sometimes as bright ribbons above the mountains and sometimes just as fade green haze in the sky, but always amazing.
We had such an amazing start to the day, the moon was still glowing and the sky was orange and pink. We spotted a minke whale within the first 15 minutes and then a humpback whale appeared. This afternoon the skies were clear and we found an elusive minke whale as well as the humpback whale "Banana" in the same spot, still resting from this morning.
