Tonight, our patience was rewarded.. we had started to hand out complimentary tickets due to no sightings, but then, faint northern lights started to appear in the sky and we quickly turned around to see them shine bright in the sky!

We headed out in the morning with some swell and cloudy skies. We encountered a humpback whale, letting out a big blow of air before diving down, showing off its dark fluke. In the afternoon we saw a pod of 7-8 white-beaked dolphins with a little calf! On our way back home we finally spotted a humpback whale, so we made a little detour to check him out!

After a few days of cancellations, we finally set sail today, feeling pretty hopeful. About half an hour into the morning tour, we got lucky and saw a humpback whale close to Lundey island! In the afternoon, we saw pods of very active white-beaked dolphins as well as 2 humpback whales, likely feeding on the same fish (possibly capelin) as the dolphins!

We headed out with a clear sky and a good forecast. We saw the planet Venus and some star signs. The sail was smooth and the air clean. Unfortunately the auroras were very shy tonight, so we issued complimentary tickets to our patient guests.

While the morning tour was cancelled, we were able to sail out this afternoon as the sea had finally settled. We explored between the islands in the bay with a snowy mt. Esja in the background. After a bit of a search, we found a humpback whale! At some point it even seemed to come and check us out for a little bit so we got to see the whole body through the water!

Unfortunately, the sky was covered in clouds pretty much all evening. As the night went on, it started snowing, so definitely not the starry, aurora-filled night we were hoping for.. We therefore handed out complimentary tickets to everyone!
