This morning, we spotted white-beaked dolphins in the distance - a pod of about 30 individuals, with 3 small calves! Then a humpback whale surfaced nearby! About one hour into the afternoon tour, we saw a minke whale - it seems like they are truly back, just in time for spring! As we turned around to go back home, we also encountered a humpback whale!
We set sail with high hopes, even though the sky was a bit overcast. The forecast was looking promising, but unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the show didn’t happen.. We ended up handing out complimentary tickets to our passengers!
We sailed out into the bay with nearly no wind. The forecast looked good and our hopes were high. Unfortunately, the clouds didn't part, so the green lady had no chance of showing herself. Complimentary tickets were handed out at the end of the tour!
This morning, we saw a blow from a humpback whale that was resting on the surface. A while later, we found 2 pods of white-beaked dolphins! In the afternoon we encountered 2 humpback whales feeding right next to our boat - and then, we saw our first minke whale of the season, and it did a lunge feed too! We also saw a couple of white-beaked dolphins!
We set off with calm seas, a gentle wind and a rising sun peaking through the clouds this morning. In total, we encountered 2 humpback whales and a pod of 25-30 white-beaked dolphins jumping around! In the afternoon we saw a few pods of up to 60 white-beaked dolphins, all feeding huge school of fish (sandeels)! Then a humpback whale surfaced around us too!
We set off this evening excited due to the high activity forecast of 5/9! However, once we got out there, it was quite cloudy, but we could see Ursa Major, Mars and Jupiter through gaps. Unfortunately no auroras, so complimentary tickets were issued!
In the morning we saw a lunge feeding humpback whale with some birds circling above it, ready to take advantage of any fish it brought to the surface. In the afternoon we again found ourselves a humpback whale! We then were surrounded by 50-60 white-beaked dolphins before we found another 2 more humpback whales on our way back home!
We set out with an optimistic weather forecast, though some clouds were covering the sky. Unfortunately, the auroras were shy tonight, so we of course provided all our patient guests with complimentary tickets, which they accepted with good spirits.
This morning we found two pods playful white-beaked dolphins consisting of about 10 and 40 individuals each. In the afternoon we set off under beautiful sunshine, and an hour in we spotted 10-15 white-beaked dolphins, followed by 2 humpback whales, when suddenly one of them stole the show - breaching at least 5x, along with a chin slap and peduncle throw!
Tonight was a night to remember! We hadn't even sailed out the harbour yet when the northern lights already started to appear above our heads. The longer we were out at sea, the more intense they got, lighting up the skies with incredible displays.
