Experts from America and the UK took time out of their own lives and careers to come and untangle a humpback whale that has been seen from our whale watching boats since the 31st July. This whale was in a bad shape, especially around the tail and we were very concerned by it. We tried our own mission about a week ago but without the proper knowledge onsite, our efforts were unsuccessful. This t

Finally after difficult couple of months, we saw Humpback Whales on our trip from Grindavík last Friday. The Icelandic capelin fishing fleet is right out of Grindavík and the whales are usually following/eating the capelin. We will do our best to follow them and sail from the nearest harbour to find the whales. For the next  days it looks like we will sail from Grindaví

Realizing that Iceland has a lot to offer we decided quite early on to offer the so calledCombo Tours to guests that want to make the most of their time while in Iceland. This way guests can easily combine whale watching with some of the exciting adventures our collaborators are offering.

    To begin with

  • Our head naturalist, Megan Whittaker, recently published a book about whale watching. It captures some of the best moments of whale watching in Iceland with simple, fun factoids to answer those most frequently asked questions. It's a book full of photographs that says a thousand words, small enough to take home and enjoy for years to come.

If you don't have your copy yet you can pick

  • Next Monday we're taking part in an exiting tour called: "Deep Relaxation, Meditation, and Whale Watching" organized by Arnbjörg Kristín Konráðsdóttir from Græni Lótusinn. The idea is to south the mind with meditation, relaxation and the sounds of the gong in our whale watching area. You may know that the sound of the gong is said to aid in relaxation as it resonates well with the human body an

As if the midnight sun isn't magical enough itself there is just something spectacular about enjoying it at sea surrounde

The wonderful puffins have arrived after their winter dwelling out on the water. It must be a relief for them to finally have time to rest here in their breeding grounds, well if we can call the breeding any rest.

About a month ago we started seeing the occasional puffin out in the whale watching area but now their numbers have increased a great deal. They've started settling on the i

Another interesting year has now passed full of stories and memories that keep piling up. The weather conditions this year were particularly challenging for us, especially during the latter half of the year. However, despite the weather our passenger numbers kept increasing proportionally to the number of visitors vacationing in Iceland.

Apart from running the tours we kept ourselves

  • We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our friends happy holidays.

It looks like we'll have to celebrate the holidays away from our dear cetacean as the weather forecast is quite bad. We have cancelled today's tour and frankly it doesn't look good for tomorrow either. For those of you who are in Iceland STAY SAFE and we hope you get to join us on a tour once the wea

  • It's fair to say that the last weeks have been very dissapointing with regards to whale watching. November turned out to be statistically our worst month ever, both when considering the number of non sighting tours and the number of cancelled tours. The weather is largely to be blamed but one can't help wondering what else could influence this situation.

For Reykjavík Cultural Night last month we took on a quite peculiar role. This was land based whale watching, and more over from within the comfort of the concert hall and conference centre HARPA.
