• CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00, 13:00

All whale watching tours are on schedule today from Reykjavík! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

Report from Eldey: We headed out of the harbour this morning onto calm seas with very little wind, so even though it was a cold morning, we were ready to spot some wildlife! We headed straight to the area where we had seen them yesterday. Even before the sun had fully risen, we spotted the backs of out first whales! 2 humpback whales were swimming side-by-side and we were luckly enough to see them very close to the front of our boat! After a little while, the whales split up and spent time a little bit further apart. We followed one of the whales, while another whale watching boat stayed with the other. Our whale was maybe still a little bit sleepy this morning! It spent a lot of time just logging at the surface very close to our boat. We then decided to watch the second whale for a while and were not disappointed with our choice. This individual was doing consistent fluke dives and twice surprised us by surfacing right next to use maybe only around 10 metres away! The last time we saw the whale before heading back to the harbour, it lifted its tail in the air twice before doing a deep dive - the perfect ending to our morning!

Report from Eldey: The afternoon tour in pastel colours, with a calm sea and a cold temperature that reminded me how cozy I am in my overall. Not even 15 minutes into the tour a blow was spotted on our 2 o'clock and it was a big one. After much suspense a profile popped up in the water line, it was a humpback whale! It was probably still feeding on all the Sprattus sprattus that keep coming close to shore! It did several fluke dives in front of us and we got to see all the angles! After a few minutes with this individual, we decided to sail around Videy in hopes to see another one of these whaletastic animals. And there it was, another humpback whale doing the same sort of behaviour with even shorter dives and pretty much never leaving the same place. We kept taking photos of this other individual and we were sure that they were the same 2 humpbacks that we had seen in the morning! Cool that they stayed for another tour! A few minutes passed and we sailed again around Videy and we found the first whale again. A beautiful fluke dive later we were on our way to the harbour.
