Report from Eldey: Tonight, the forecast for the clouds and the activity looked really promising so we headed out of the harbour full of optimism! Only 30 minutes later, as we found a nice sheltered position out of the worst of the swell, we saw the beginnings of northern lights! At first it was just a very faint, pale streak in the sky but soon it turned into a bright arc crossing over above our heads. For the rest of the tour, the auroras strengthened and wained but at its peak we were treated to a really broad arc across the sky that danced above us. For a while, one side of the arc looked like a waterfall of auroras, absolutely beautiful! Once, while we were waiting for the northern lights to strengthen again, our captain even spotted a humpback whale close by us too! Too soon, we ran out of time and had to head back to the harbour, but we were able to watch the lights the whole way back as they shifted and moved across the sky.
