Tour at 9:00

Report from Hafsúlan: On a sunny day with few clouds we headed into the cold wind and whitecapped waves. Almost everybody made use of the warm overalls, which kept everybody outside warm and dry. It was a bit of a rollercoaster ride which most passengers enjoyed but other not so much. Nevertheless 41 passengers decided to join us in these rougher conditions to prove their seaworthiness. More and more birds made themselves visible around the boat, and a short glimpse of 1 or 2  Harbour Porpoises was possible for the ones looking at the right time in the right direction. When the density of birds increased and the first Northern Gannets started with their plunge feeding, the first of two Minke Whales appeared. Mostly they surfaced in the distance changing their directions frequently and sometimes taking advantage of the swell to surf in the waves. When our time was up and we had to slowly head back, one Minke surfaced quite close to the boat several times to give everybody the chance to have a last look at these majestic animals. Happily most people enjoyed the seabirds, cetaceans and landscape but because of the unfavourable conditions the captain decided to cancel the following two trips.

- CarineBirds seen on todays tours include: Northern Gannet, Common Guillemot, Northern Fulmar, Arctic Skua, Arctic Tern, Manx Shearwater, Atlantic Puffin
