Tour at 13:00

Our first tour in the month of Desember took place today after three cancelled days in a row due to storm. We left from Keflavik and sailed towards Hafnarfjörður as we knew we would be mostly sheltered by land from the strong south-western wind. We started by sailing up along Garðskagi Peninsula to see if there might be something feeding among the boats present and even called the boats to check if they had seen any whales but they had not. We did spend a bit of time searching for what we thought may have been a whale but saw nothing except what may have been a back several hundred meters away and then nothing else. Perhaps its owner decided to go down for an unusually long dive. In any case, next we continued towards Hafnarfjörður, scanning this often excellent area very well but sadly the sea revealed nothing for our pleasure barring the stunning snow-peaked mountains. All passengers were hence offered complimentary tickets so that they can come back for another tour free of charge.

Birds seen on today's tour include: northern gannet, black-backed gulls, eider ducks, common guillemots, great skua, and kittiwakes.
