Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The forecast was promising the wind to calm down but it stayed pretty much the same. Cold brisk winds from the north, the freshest air you can breath. Once out in the bay the situation seemed to have changed, less birdlife, which made it more challenging to find the whales but thats ok we like a challenge. A couple of northern gannets were circuling the air about 2 kms away and as they were great indicators this morning we though we will head that way. Low and behold a minke whale surface, spotted by one of our passengers. Only surfacing a couple of times and then disappearing for a long time.  A few more gannets flew into the area and started plunging into the water but the minke whales were definitely more difficult to show our passengers this afternoon. We saw at least 2 different individual minke whales on this beautiful sunny tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was deceiving this morning, close to coast the sea looked nice and smooth but once we traveled 20-30 minutes off shore the winds picked up in the open and the sea conditions became rougher. The bird life was the most noticeable this morning, obviously indicating a plentiful bay. It was a flock of plunging gannets that showed the way to the first minke whale. As it was feeding it was very difficult to predict where and when it would surface. The bay was full of food, sun was shining and the visibility endless, so there was always something to enjoy; birds, whales, landscape. The wind was very cold though so our passengers made use of the free overalls we offer on board. We must have seen at least another 2-3 minke whales during the tour and one at the end surfacing very close which ended the tour nicely. Despite the cold wind it was great to be out on the water.
