Report from Hafsúlan: We made our way out from the harbour with high hopes after this morning and afternoons very successful sightings. As soon as we made our way out of the harbour we were hit with a shower of rain that visited us several times throughout the trip. The wind picked up and we soon saw few seabirds. This wasn´t a great sign of things to come. The ocean surface was very flat and conditions were very good for spotting however the cetaceans were very elusive. Perhaps the food had moved outside the bay. We remained optimistic and a few lucky passengers who perserveered with us spotted a pod of 2-3 harbour porpoises bow riding. Unfortunately they disappeared as we slowed the boat. We were treated to an acrobatic display from a skua chasing a kittiwake right above the boat. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets to be used in the next two years and lets hope for tomorrows tours to be better.

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather improved on the morning with much more clear skys. The wind picked up a small amount but conditions were perfect for spotting cetaceans. We spotted the first minke whale only about 20 mins from Reykjavik. This individual was very elusive so we soon headed for the area were we spotted some minkes in the morning. When we arrived we spotted a blow to the right and then immediatly to the left of the boat and we realised there were two minkes feeding. They surfaced sporadically making elaborate turns under water. As we made our way back to the harbour another minke came up only 70 metres from the boat giving us one last look at the beautiful creatures.

Report from Hafsúlan: it was raining a lot when we headed out on the bay this morning. The sea conditions were better than we expected and with the cloudy sky the sea surface was brighter which made it easier for us to spot cetaceans. We had been sailing for about 50 minutes when we saw the first minke whale of the tour, it surfaced very frequently and few times in only 100 meters distance. While we watched the minke whale we could also enjoy all of the sea birds around us that also seemed to be feeding. After a good time with that minke whale we spotted another minke whale that we followed for a while. On the tour we also got a glimpse of 2 pods of harbour porpoises with 3-4 individuals and 1 pod of white beaked dolphins with 3-4 individuals.
