Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The sea conditions had not improved during the day, and so we started our journey by heading north from Reykjavík to get some shelter from the strong winds. The rough sea conditions didn't make it easy to spot cetaceans, and multiple times large waves were mistaken for splashes or blows from whales by our passengers. However, we did not spot any cetaceans on this tour and offered our passengers complimentary tickets to come on another tour with us for free which are valid for the next two years. Even though no whales and dolphins showed up, we still enjoyed the sunny tour and the amazing view at Reykjavík and the impressive the landscape around us.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The wind had picked up a little since this morning and was giving us a rocky trip that started again from Reykjavík. After ca. one hour we spotted a minke whale in some distance and tried to get closer to get a better look at it. We saw it surfacing a few times around the boat, but it seemed busy feeding and was difficult to spot in between the waves. However, a few minutes after we left the minke whale, our passengers proved their excellent spotting skills by pointing out another minke whale. We first saw a couple of blows and as we were getting closer, we also saw it surfacing two times in front of our boat, before we started our way back to the harbour. During the whole tour, we saw many bird species feeding which was also great to see.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Like the day before, went out from Reykjavík this morning on our search to find cetaceans. There was a lot of bird activity in the bay with several flocks of feeding birds including plunge-diving northern gannets. It did not take long before we found a pod of 4-6 harbour porpoises. Even though we were happy to see the little guys, we kept searching larger cetacean species. However, we only found another pod of harbor porpoises on this tour, so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets. These are valid for the next two years and offer the chance to come  with us on another tour.

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern gannets, northern fulmars, cormorants, puffins, manx shearwater, lesser black-backed gulls, common guillemots, arctic terns, geese, eider ducks and kittiwakes.
