Report from Eldey: We decided to sail again out from Hafnarfjörður to get better sea conditions. The wind was getting down and the swell was not as high like in the afternoon tour so our sailing was more comfortable. Our first sighting was of two minke whales that were traveling together. It was a little difficult to follow them, they were coming up all around the boat. It was hard to tell if we were always seeing the same individuals or if there were more animals. On our way back home we got really lucky with 3 white beaked dolphins that started to follow us towards Reykjavík for a short time. They stayed close to the boat so it was easy for everyone to see them.

Report from Eldey: The weather has calmed down enough for us to finally get back on to the water. It wasn't perfect ,however, and so we decided to sail from Hafnarfjörður to gain more shelter and travel with the wind for more of the journey than against it. After about 30 minutes of sailing we saw our first blow, a minke whale and then another. It was frustrating at first as we were only seeing the blows (exhaled breath) but after some patience we had onle surfaing very close, maybe 20-30 meters from our boat. By the end of the tour we must have seen at least 4-5 individuals and many seabirds. Not a bad day on the water after a couple of days of cancellation.

Bird species seen on today's tours include: northern gannets, northern fulmars, lesser black-backed gulls, Arctic tern, Manx shearwater, sooty shearwater (5-6), common guillemots, Atlantic puffin, razorbills, kittiwakes.
