Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: We made our way out from Reykjavík today accompanied by some light rainfall a bit of sunshine as well. We had to go far offshore today, but then finally we saw the first pod of 4-5 white-beaked dolphins. They suddenly started jumping a couple of hundreds meter away from us and were great to see as they were surfing in the waves and leaping. When we tried to get closer they turned around and came straight towards us and played around our boat. Since they were so close to us, it was even possible to follow them underneath the water surface thanks to the white patches and stripes on their bodies. They gave us a great time but then left after a few minutes disappearing between all the white caps. Right after that, we spotted a minke whale that we followed for a few minutes. It was a rather elusive individual that only a few of a our passengers managed to get a look at before it vanished. On the way back to the harbour, however, a second pod of white-beaked dolphins popped up only 50 m away from us and started bow-riding and swimming all around us. They gave as another great look and really seemed to enjoy the waves. A nice ending of the tour.
