Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was still an overcast sky and some light rain when we left the harbour on the afternoon tour. We still had swells from the west and the boat rocked, it caused green-faces onboard. For the ones that stayed outside the overalls came to good used and kept us all dry and warm. We searched more towards the south on this tour and after some travel we spotted some small backs infront of us. It was a pod of 5-6 harbour porpoises that quickly went passed us. At the same time we saw a minke whale quickly two times surfacing close to us. Although many missed the animals because they were elusive in the swells and didn't surfaced a second time. We continued our search and could see 1-2 more pods of harbour porpoises but unfortunately no other cetaceans were seen on the tour. When we got back to the harbour we offered all passengers complimentary tickets so they can return with us for another whale watching tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: The weather this morning was not so good, we had light rain on the whole tour and a overcast sky. The sea conditions were rough out in the bay with swells from the west. The overalls onboard kept us warm and dry, so we could search for cetaceans. When we were further out in the bay we had a short observation of a fin coming up a bit further away, unfortunately we couldn't see to which species it belonged because it was not seen again. On the way back a minke whale surfaced right infront of us two times and then it was gone. People still outside got a short glimpse of the whale but most passengers missed this animal. We had 1-2 pods of harbour porpoises during the tour with maybe 4-5 individuals each. Because no other cetaceans were seen on the tour we gave out complimentary tickets to all passengers for a return whale watching tour. Hopefully with better luck and nicer weather.
