Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: Another glorious tour, with sunshine and hardly any wind. Our whale sighting started fairly soon with blows from two different humpback whales spotted on the horizon. We got very good sightings of this species where the individual who we spotted on the afternoon tour named Picaso made another appearance and who stayed by the boat for over half an hour. We were particuarly excited to spot a minke whale not far from our sighting of the humpbacks which we observed diving and surfacing near the boat on numberous occasions. The bird-life from this tour was particular impressive with guillemots, puffins, gannets and arctic skua´s to name a few.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The beautiful conditions from this morning continued for this afternoons tour and everyone made the most of being on the outside decks. We had an encounter with a minke whale very soon into our tour which was again closely followed by a humpback whale. We were able to recognise the humpback by identifying it´s fluke - a whale known as Picaso and who we were seeing for the second time this season. We spent over 45 minutes with two different humpback individuals with one surfacing very close to the boat providing people with some great photo opportunities. Our time with the humpback was interspersed with lots of sightings of t least 3-4 minke whales and we got to see a large variety of birds during the tour including lots of puffins.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The conditions were beautiful, with flat calm seas and clear skies and hardly a breath of wind. The tour begun with glimpses of harbour porpoises, small pods of 2-3 inividuals, 15-20 individuals scattered throughout the bay. We then saw a small pod of at least 4 white-beaked dolphins, but they were very scattered, feeding amongst a large flock of seagulls and fulmars.  This was interrupted by seeing minke whales and a humpback whale surfacing simultaneously together close to the boat. It made for an awesome encounter where the humpback was seen on several occasions and we saw at least three minke whales surfacing and feeding during the tour.  It was a spectacular tour with four different types of species seen.

Status: RUNNING

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik on a gorgeous day. The sun is shining and there is almost no wind which is not common in Iceland. We hope that you will be able to join us on this beautiful day to see the whales in their natural inviroment.
