Status: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik today. The sun is trying to break out but there could be some rain on and off today. Wind is coming from the South-East and is around 8-10m/s so there could be some movement on the boat out on Faxa Bay.

Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: The weather on this tour was the key factor. Very tricky at first it ended up being an adventure at last. Lovely rainbows all around! even double rainbows some times. Not all the way any of the times but quiet close. Regarding cetaceans we could barely see 3 minke whales throughout the whole tour which made us a bit impatient. All the good work brings some outcome in the end. We saw a pod of 10 white-beaked dolphins breaching like maniacs close to Hvalfjordur!full throttel we arrived there in a couple of minutes. Such beautiful creatures in such a windy and hectic day made my day. Leaping out of the water, coming close to us, also some juveniles breaching close the boat. It was an amazing experience! I also loved how our passengers enjoyed the encounters on this tour. Very expressive and sincere joy! Hard tour at first but lovely reward at the end of the tour.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: What a hard tour! I started to dispair towards the end of the tour because we could not find any cetaceans up until then. How stupid I was! Patience is a hard lesson to learn and something this bay has taught me lately is how to become almost a jedi. The animals need time and also a bit of luck on our side. We finally found 2 pods of white-beaked dolphins  with 7 individuals in totalthey were even bow riding (surfing the waves created by our boat). Besides, many kids got to see it very well because kindly many of our passengers let them be next to the railings. Thumbs up for those good hearted people! Lovely tour in the end. Thanks to my beloved dolphins. I know they cannot read this, but anyways thank you guys.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We had a pretty windy first tour today with a lot of white-caps everywhere and a bit of swell as well. Not the best sea conditions but we were sailing out in hope to find some of our whales and dolphins. Unfortunately, our search was fruitless and apart from one minke whale seen once by another whale watching boat there was not much around in the Bay on this tour! We gave out complimentary tickets to our passengers so that they have the chance to come on another whale watching tour with us, either here in Reykjavík or in Akureyri. Hopefully it will be a more successful tour then!
