Status Tour 5pm: CANCELLED

We have decided to cancel our Whale Watching tour at 5pm today due to unfavorable conditions at sea. Please don't hesitate to contact us at elding@elding.is or +354 519 5000 if you have any questions

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions continued getting more and more unfavorable. Although there wasn't rain (actually, the cloud covering was quite fragile) there was a strong wing coming from the north-north east that was making the sailing quite choppy. After two - two and a half hours of sailing, towards the Reykjanes peninsula, we didn't manage to see any kind of animals. Looked like the whales and dolphins decided to not show up today. We offered some complimentary tickets to our passengers, and hopefully next time they'll be luckier enough to enjoy the extremely awesome cetacean life that we've got in this bay.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We went out on this beautiful morning in hopes to see some whales and/or dolphins on the tours. The water surface in the harbour was completely flat which was a bit misleading in this case. Out in the bay we were surrounded by a lot of waves and white-caps that made the trip quite rocky as a strong wind was blowing in our faces. We knew that the wind was predicted to pick up during the day but even in the morning the sea was quite rough. Even though we were searching a large part of the bay together with two other whale watching boats, none of us got lucky today. After about an hour, on of our deckhands spotted a minke whale but it never showed up again, maybe left the area, maybe we just didn´t see it again inbetween all the waves. Therefore, we offered all our passengers complimentary tickets to come on another tour with us for free. These tickets are valid for two years and can be used for a tour either in Reykjavík or in Akureyri with the company "Whale watching Akureyri".
