Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: On our afternoon tour we sailed from Keflavik to Reykjavik so we could return with the wind and the waves to our main harbour. The sailing was a lot more comfortable than on the morning tour: however, we did not encounter any cetaceans on this tour. All along the way, the sea birds were the only ones keeping us company. Therefore, we offered al our passengers complimentary tickets. These tickets are valid for another whale watching tour with us either from Reykjavik or from Akureyri. I wish everyone more luck on the next tour!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: Today we went out from Keflavik due to the strong winds coming from the West. By going out from this harbour we got some shelter from The Reykjanes Peninsula. Nevertheless, it was still pretty bumpy on our way out and the boat was rocking up and down quite a lot. We saw a couple of fishing boats around followed by large flocks of sea birds but we didn't see any cetaceans for a long time. At some point we turned back to make the sailing more comfortable, and then we suddenly were surrounded by a group of 4 white-beaked dolphins! They just appeared next to us out of the blue and seemed to be very curious about us as they were coming closer, played around the bow and surfed along next to us. We managed to spend a while with them before they disappeared inbetween the waves. Unfortunately, we didn't see any larger cetaceans on this tour, but the dolphins made up for it!

Bird species sen on today's tours include: northern gannet, northern fulmar, lesser & greater black-backed gull, Iceland gull, glaucous gull, great cormorant, eider duck, and razorbill.

Tour Status pm: RUNNING FROM OTHER HARBOUR

We are sailing out from KEFLAVIK again on the 1 pm tour but the plan is to end with the boat in the Old Habour in Reykjavik. The tour will be 4-5 hours long. The meeting point is still the Old Harbour in Reykjavik and we will be going by bus to KEFLAVIK, free of charge

Tour Status 9am: RUNNING FROM OTHER HARBOUR

Due to unfavourable conditions out of Reykjavík Harbour we will be sailing out from KEFLAVÍK Harbour for the 9am tour. Meeting point for the tour remains the Old Harbour in Reykjavík, where a bus will be ready and waiting for passengers. We will drive off to Hafnarfjörður at the scheduled departure time at 9am. This will result in a longer tour around 5 hrs. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact our ticket office at elding@elding.is or +354 519 5000.
