Tour at 13:00
Report from Hafsúlan and Eldey: After almost a week with stormy weather and cancelations we finally got an opportunity to sail out on the bay for cetaceans. Even though the wind speed was low today there was still a considerate swell out on the bay since the stormy weather previous days. This was the reason why we set off from Keflavík, this gave us an opportunity to sail with the swell instead of heading into it, making the tour much smoother. The conditions were good for the most part of the tour although at times it snowed heavily on us we were unfortunately not able to spot any whales or dolphins. Everyone was offered a complimentary ticket so they got a second chance with us to see the wildlife on Faxaflói.
-Sigurlaug and Babsi
Birds seen on the tour: iceland gulls, razorbills, glaucous gulls, greater black backed gull, cormorant, eider ducks, common guillemots and northern fulmar.
Status: Running
Today, 30 December at 13:00, we are sailing out from another harbor due to unfavorable weather and sea conditions out of Reykjavík
A bus will be ready and waiting for passengers at our ticket office in the Old Harbour and will drive off to the other harbor at the scheduled departure time. Depending on conditions, we will either return to Reykjavík with the boat or drive guests back by bus. This will result in a slightly longer tour, or between 4-5 hrs. and could impact COMBO tours.
Guests that are unable to join the tour because of it's length should contact their travel planner immediately to arrange for a different activity or check for other options provided by them.
Please inform guests of this at the earliest to avoid conflicts in schedule and confusion.
All the best,
The Elding Team
