Tour at 13:00
Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out from Hafnafjourdur today so that we could sail along the Reykjanes peninsula making the journey a lot more comfortable than if we went out from Reykjavik. The weather was very depressing on this tour as it rained hard the entire time however, some passengers stayed outside the entire time with me and helped me search for cetaceans. We did see a small pod of 3-5 Harbour Porpoises which was splashing around for a few seconds before disappearing and we did see some very interesting birds in the harbour such as a raft of 20-30 Red-breasted Mergansers and some red throated divers in ther winter plumage but no other cetaceans (whales, dolphins or porpoises) so we offered our passengers complimentary tickets for a free trip n the next 2 years, hopefully with better luck.
Birds seen today include: Red-breasted Mergansers, Red-throated Divers (loons), Kittiwakes, Shags, Cormorants, Iceland Gulls, Glaucous Gulls, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Razorbills, Eider Ducks.
