Report from Eldey: We could name today's tour "Emotional roller coaster on Faxa Bay". When we left the harbour we felt as if we were owning the world, the sea was welcoming us with open arms, light (that we were starting to doubt it ever existed in the first place) and somehow summerish temperatures ! Things were looking great ! The deeper we ventured westward, the more seabirds were surrounding us. At some point, hundred of northern fulmars were flying around us, we were then so sure that something had to happen soon ! But as time passed, we had to turn back without having seeing much yet. And then the wind that was hiding in our back, unnoticed, hit us as hard as the winter reality. Gone, the sweet temperatures ! Not all was grey, as during all the cruising we were spared from the swell. So even if cold, our exploration remained calm, allowing us to scan carefully the sea surface. Suddenly, a slender black back surfaced, with the celerity of a lightning ! It was a minke whale, out of nowhere ! We waited patiently for it to resurface, circled around in the area for long minutes, but this whale turned out to be nothing more than a tease... O capricious cetaceans, next time we won't miss you ! Complimentary tickets were given away without delay to our passengers, and we can't wait to welcome back any returning sailor.
