Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey & Hafsulan: Due to the high number of passengers we went out with two boats on our afternoon tour. The long swells out at sea gave us quite  a roller coaster ride today that not everyone enjoyed. In the very beginning a few white-beaked dolphins were spotted by a whale watching boat from another company but they lost them quickly and even though all boats looked for them they seemed to have vanished. So We headed further out and looked for some other dolphins or whales. Apart from the swells the spotting conditions were quite okay and it was a bit frustrating to not see anything for a long time. All boats were already heading back to the harbour when our boat Eldey found the white-beaked dolphins again! Finally! They went for short dives inbetween the surfacings but we good a nice look at this group of about 5-6 individuals. They came close to one boat, then the other one, so most passengers managed to follow them for a while and enjoyed watching them while it started to snow just like on the beginning of the tour! Dolphin watching in the snow - only in Iceland!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We had everything in this morning tour! We had wind, we had swell, a little bit of snow, tons of cold... We had everything... but cetaceans. Nonetheless it was a pretty good and funny ride over the Faxa bay, that a lot of our passengers really enjoyed. We found desperately for those minkys whales we know we have on the bay already, but I guess that this morning cold also caught them by surprise as they were nowhere to be seen. As usual we gave our complimentary tickets, and hopefully (I'm quite sure actually!) they will have better luck next time!

Bird species seen on today's tour include: northern gannet, eider duck, black-legged kittiwake, northern fulmar, great cormorant, icelandic gull & glaucous gull.

Status: RUNNING

We are sailing out from the Old Harbour in Reykjavik on this beautiful snowy day. There could be some movement on the boat out on Faxabay due to the wind the past days but we do offer preventative tablets in the ticket office, free of charge, if you are sensitive to motion sickness. Hope you are able to join us on our search of the whales
