Tour at 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: Conditions remained as favorable as this morning with only a little wind, calm seas and a dry sky with a bit of sun here and there. The white-beaked dolphins we had seen in the morning had moved a bit further out, but it didn't take us long to find them again. We divided our time between two pods of 4-6 individuals each. There is just something special of watching dolphins collaborating to heard the fish together and then feed on them. We could see them leaping and breaching all around us before we continued further out. Even though we went quite far and we encountered 4-5 harbour porpoises, the best thing happened towards the end of the tour. We saw a humpback whale breaching 4 times directly outside of Grotta. It was so magnificent to see this large animal lifting itself out of the water, so we stayed as long as time permitted. Simply an epic tour!

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: It was a nice day in Faxa, it wasn´t so windy when heading out and the sea was fairly calm. Not even half and hour into the tour our first species were encountered and what a wonderful encounter it was. A pod of 7-8 white-beaked dolphins, were spotted feeding, there were at least three other pods surrounding us in all directions and at varying distances from only a few meters to 300 meters away. The dolphins came up amazingly close and we could see them swimming under the water from the sides of the boats. After watching these animals for some time it was decided to leave them and search for something else, we encountered many bird species, like the northern fulmar and the northern gannets and yet more white-beaked dolphins (3 pods, 5-7 individuals in each). These animals were very playful and even jumped, breached and leaped out of the water on numerous occasions. What a spectacular thing to witness, what a wonderful tour!

Bird species seen on todays tours: northern fulmar, northern gannet, kittiwake, icelandic gull, back-backed gull, cormorant & eider duck.
