Report from Eldey: In our last tour of the day we decided to get close to Hvalfjörður and take a look in that area. As soon as we arrived we saw a bushy blow, so there it was a minke whale, it surfaced couple of times and then it disappeared into the bowels of the fjord. So we tried again our luck into the middle of Faxafloi, after a while sailing we couldn't´t find anything else and headed course to Reykjavik, but in the way back we were able to see a harbour porpoise and several white-beaked dolphins, around 4-6 of them, jumping in the distance. We tried to get close but they were elusive. Due to this behaviour of the animals, we decided to give complementary tickets so everybody can enjoy a second time with us.

Report from Elding: Unfortunately the bad luck was chasing us today. We hoped for the weather to calm down but, indeed, the wind just kept increasing and increasing. For almost 1 hour we sailed close to the northern shore, until the beginning of the whale fiord, where one of the other whale watching boats spotted a few dolphins. We searched for them but unfortunately we didn´t manage to find them. Then we tried or best heading towards the middle of the bay, this time with the wind favoring us so the ride was indeed quite nice. But no whales or dolphins were interested in showing themselves to us. So we came back empty handed again, but our passengers will be able to enjoy another whale watching trip for free with us since they got complimentary tickets. Hopefully within the next 2 years they will be able to have a little bit more of luck with the icelandic cetaceans!

Report from Eldey: The day was a little bit rough and even more this afternoon, if it didn´t was windy it would be perfect summer day, but cold breeze reminded us all day that we are on Iceland. We were choosing a new rout to day, trying to avoid the north wind, so we had a pleasant sailing experience along the south of Reykjavik in the direction of Reykjaness. After a while sailing, we spotted a huge flock of birds, mainly northern gannets and black-legged kittiwake and we knew that was our chance to see any cetaceans and indeed we did! Just in front of us, coming from nowhere a solitary minke whale surfacing few times. This animal disappeared quite fast so we turned back to other spotting area. In the way back, we saw another minke whale just in the lateral of our boat but again it disappeared extremely fast. It seemed that today animals were elusive so due to the lack of time with them we decided to give complementary tickets so everybody can try a second chance with us soon!

Report from Hafsulan: As we expected weather was not very good. Sea was covered by withe caps, lightly rough and cold from the wind. We did our best sailing around our favorite spots were often we could see animals. There was wildlife to look at, northern gannets flying above us and diving, noisy arctic terns and some fast puffins. We even find few shelters from wind when we could feel how warm it is under the sun. After 3 hours on the sea we came back without meeting any whales or dolphins, that why we offered a complimentary tickets to our passengers.

Report from Eldey: It did not feel like summer when sailed into the strong northern wind. The swells were shorts so the sea conditions were fairly good compared to the wind but the breaking waves made spotting challenging. The first sighting was a minke whale that was spotted after only 25 minutes sailing. It was elusive and only spotted 3 times. After about an hour we heard news from another boat that had seen a blow in the area. When we arrived we saw this was another minke whale, we only saw this individual surface a few times between the waves a few times. At this time we were running out of time and started heading back. on the way to harbour we found 2 white beaked dolphins. Unfortunately they were also difficult to follow and as it was the last sighting of the tour we gave everyone tickets to come back so they have a second chance to get a better look at the animals in the bay.
