Tour at 17:00

Report from Eldey: Even with the overcast sky, the weather was actually quite pleasant for a whale-watching trip this evening. We ventured out into the bay but despite our best efforts, there were no sightings. As a result we offered complimentary tickets, and as the weather was so incredibly good everyone was still smiling upon our return to harbour.

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: After beautiful morning we went out in good moods. Wind speeded up, but spotting conditions were still good. We sailed out looking for whales which we saw before. Sky was full of northern gannets but not many of them were feeding. In the middle of the tour rain started to fall, and also wind hit us stronger but we didn't stop looking around. Unfortunately, when finally we found a minke whale, animal surfaced only once and we weren't able to see it again. On the way back, close to the harbour, we passed by small pod of harbour porpoises which were feeding making splashes. Even if porpoises are cute, we offered our passengers complimentary tickets so they can came back for another tour with us.

Report from Eldey: The day started with a little bit of rain and most of us were skeptical about going out, but for the very first time forecast was right announcing the cease of any rains in the bay. Despite the initial precipitations, the sea state was extremely calm and visibility was great, the day couldn't start in a better way. We were getting used to the boat when we had our first encounter within the harbour, three intrepid harbour porpoises surfaced couple of times before they disappeared, a good omen! Faxafloi was very busy this morning, a lot of fishing vessels and unusual amount of northern gannets and northern fulmar were the best of the indicators to tell us that the water was full of food, so cetaceans must be there too! And we were proved to be right, we got closer to one of our main spotting areas and we discovered two minke whales, one of them was clearly a calf, our beloved Texas! Later on, we sailed into another frenetic area and we discovered more minke whales, 6 in total, and they were surfacing really close to our boat giving us  time enough to take really good pictures of these incredible animals. In the way back, we enjoyed a smooth ride and fantastic views from the old harbour.
