Report from Eldey: Viking were tough guys when they decided to come to this remote Iceland for the very first time and we could feel in our bodies today why. We have suffered a strong wind from the east making our sailing experience an unique one due to the roughness of the ocean, but despite that fact or because of that we were fully rewarded by the gods of the oceans! As soon as we arrived to one of our main spotting areas we found a pod of 4 white-beaked dolphins, a very friendly one! They were swimming around the boat constantly, leaping, jumping and showing themselves in excellent conditions. While we were in this whirlwind of dolphins, we were surprised by some blows in the distance, our skepticism about these blows was big because we haven't seen a big whale for a while and when we got closer we couldn't be more surprised and excited, it was a humpback whale! And that wasn't all, she breached in front of us, less than 50 m so we could identify her thanks to our research project as one of our common visitor in Faxafloi,  þrostur. We could have felt the splashes if it wasn't raining so much. But it seemed that the humpback wasn't alone, we witnessed how our previous pod of dolphins started to swim around the whale, harassing her and jumping around her. After enjoying the whale watching experience, we came back to Reykjavik facing strong winds.
