Report from Hafsulan: It's getting cold in here! Fortunately though, the wind was calm and we got bright sunshine to help us stand the increasing cold. We enjoyed the views the bay offered us until we spotted water splashes coming our direction. It was a pod of 6-8 harbour porpoises coming toward our boat! They kept surfacing and closing in with us, behaviour unusual enough for yours truly to mistake them for dolphins. The encounter was short but fruitful, so we headed further west until we encountered a pod of 5 white-beaked dolphins. They were swimming fast and straight away. They were coming up frequently enough to be predictable, so we could follow them easily until they decided it was enough and got off the grid. At the beginning of the encounter with them we also spotted a tall blow so we went back on our step and found a very shy minke whale. It was difficult to follow it, and during our patient wait for it to come back, the craziest thing happened! Out of nowhere, a humpback whale breached in front of Hafsulan! Jackpot! We ended staying with this humpback whale for about half an hour. It was never diving deep and long, and even displayed some lunge feeding. This humpie was having a snack just below the sea surface. After running out of time, we made our way back toward Reykjavik, but not without seeing once more the minke whale and a couple of porpoises. 4 species tour fellas!

Report from Hafsulan: Today we would say that it was the very first day of winter because temperatures dropped a lot compared to previous days but the conditions were excellent for whale watching as long as the sun was shinning well enough to warm up our bodies. Hoping for the best, we entered into Faxafloi looking for our beloved cetacean and it didn't take too long to find the first species, three harbour porpoises were crossing by in front of the boat, a good omen. Not too far away, we spotted a huge area full of seabirds, our favorite cetacean's indicator so we headed there.  As soon as we arrived there, we found some friendly a nice white-beaked dolphins, at least 5 of them in a clear hunting-formation chasing fish. We enjoyed them for a while and we were even able to see them leaping and jumping out of the water. In the way back, the weather was so excellent that we couldn't resist to take a nice sun bath despite cold temperatures.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today. The wind is getting calm but the sea is quite rough, and we do have seasickness tablets free of charge.
