Tour at 9 and 13: RUNNING FROM ANOTHER HARBOUR

Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was pretty much the same as in the morning and unfortunately no sightings of cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises) on this tour either even though we searched a new area and ended our tour back in Reykjavik. On this tour we did get to see some interesting birds that the bird loving passengers enjoyed such as; northern gannet, sooty shearwaters and even a blue fulmar, later two birds species that we only really get to see in the winter time. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets again and hopefully we will see then again in the not to distant future for another marine experience.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: The weather was kinda miserable this morning, south westerly winds meant we had to think of other options to take our passengers. Keflavik was the best option as the coast provided good shelter. We took our passengers on a 45min bus ride to where our boat was stationed and sailed out from there. It was a nice comfortable ride for the most part and everyone made use of the warm saloon, overalls and drinks on board. The spotting condtions were good and we had OK visibility at least 1-2 kms but the mist did not allow us to see the beautiful landscape today. The birdlife was good and we had a nice variety of birds seen on our tour and a small pod of harbour porpoises, maybe 3 or 4 that quickily porpoised past. We ended agan in Keflavik and gave out complimentary tickets for a free whale watching tour in the next two years hoping they will have more success on there next excursion.

Birds seen on today´s tours include; northern gannet, northern fulmars, blue fulmar, kittiwakes, glaucous gulls, iceland gulls, eider ducks, great cormorants, lesser black-backed gulls, sooty shearwaters.

We will be sailing out from KEFLAVÍK today due to unfavourable conditions out of Reykjavík. A bus will be ready and waiting for passengers here in the Old Harbour and drive off to Keflavík at the scheduled departure times. After the tours we will return to Reykjavík by bus again.

This will result in a slightly longer tour, or between 3-5 hrs. and could impact COMBO tours. Guests that are unable to join the tour because of it's length should contact their travel planner immediately to arrange for a different activity or check for other options provided by them.
