Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: We sailed out of Reykjavik in quite large swells which most passengers enjoyed but one or two ended up with green faces. We searched a very large area and had one sighting of a minke whale in the distance which never showed up again and a few small splashes of Harbour Porpoises. Even the birds were low in numbers, a few gannets and fulmars but not much else. A very sad disappointing tour with both whales and weather. We gave our passengers complimentary tickets in the hope they will have better luck next time.

Tout at 13:00: Report from Hafsúlan: The waves had gotten a little bigger since this morning, and the sail further out was quite a roller coaster ride! as we got to the area we had seen the minke's this morning, we noticed that the bird life was less, but soon we spotted 4-6 dorsal fins of the White-beaked Dolphins they kept us company for quite a while and we got a nice look at them as they surfaced slowly in front of the boat, but we had to work for it and be very patient as they moved very fast to begin with! After the Dolphins swam away we searched another area, but unfortunately the whales weren't showing up. It could just be that there was less food in the bay but luckily we saw the gorgeus White-beaked Dolphins that are only found in this quarter of the world!- Freydís Ósk HjörvarsdóttirTour at 9:00Report from Hafsúlan: We headed out this morning in a cloudy but quite calm weather, or at least that's what it looked like! as we got further our the waves got bigger and it was quite a rocky ride. fortunately the wave tops weren't white so the whale spotting shouldn't have been hard. We spotted a big blow in front of us, a big one, and we saw it 2-3 times, but the animal disappeared as we got closer. But as we got to the area we noticed a dorsal fin of a Minke Whale popping out of the ocean. there were 2-3 animals around us, they moved fast and gave us a good game of "hide and seek" but just in the end we got a couple of  beautiful views of one of the Minke's as the animal surfaced only 20-30 meters away from the boat. It was a good tour with some Minke's although the sail was quite rocky, but that's just a better adventure to tell stories off ! - Freydís Ósk Hjörvarsdóttir

Birds seen on today's tours included: Northern Gannets, Northern Fulmars, Lesser Black-backed Gulls, Kittiwakes, Cormorants, Eider Ducks.
