Tour at 17:00

Report from Hafsúlan: In the evening, the wind was still blowing, but it seemed to calm down slowly as we went out. The bay was covered in rain clouds, but we were lucky had some sunshine in between creating beautiful colours of faxa bay in the evening sun. We searched the bay for very long and went far out without seeing nothing but empty ocean, but suddenly - in the very end of the tour - the large dorsal fin of a White-beaked Dolphin broke through the water surface right in front of us and we were excited to see more of them coming to the surface. Firstly, it was very hard to follow them as they were frequently changing direction, probably feeding on the numerous jellyfish close to the surface, but thanks to the good spotting skills of our passengers, we maneged to keep on track. They came very close to the boat several times and we enjoyed them thoroughly before we had to head back to Reykjavik. It was a very nice encounter with these wonderful creatures and even though we found no larger whales on this tour, I hope that everyone did enjoy the beauty in the "small" but amazing dolphins as much as I did.

Report from Hafsúlan: The tour started off with some rain and reduced visibility but as the tour continued it brightened up and we even saw a patch of blue sky, whoo hoo! We searched far and wide for the whales and it wasn´t until near the end of our tour that our efforts were rewarded. We got to see two Minke Whales surface maybe 80-100 meters away 3-4 times but maybe not everyone got to see it. There was a couple of sightings of Harbour Porpoises too but again very short encounters. We were hoping to show more but it´s nature and being patient is sometimes not enough. Instead we offered our passengers a free return visit in the hope they will have better encounters next time.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was an overcast morning with some wind and swell offshore. It was mainly a dolphin morning as we encountered a large pod of maybe 20-30 White-beaked Dolphins in very scattered smaller pods, which looked to be feeding, at one point they were even jumping out of the water causing a huge splash. The guide spotted a Minke Whale once but unfortunately it didn´t surface again as far as we could see and a few scattered pods of Harbour Porpoises now and again. It would have been nice to see the Minke again but maybe on the next trip.
