Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Great conditions for spotting wildlife today with a smooth sea and cloudy sky, providing a perfect light. As we sailed out the swell started to build which gave a gentle rock to the outward journey. In the distance large splashes were spotted, with the dark bodies of the white beaked dolphins noticeably leaping from the ocean surface. The dolphins were over a kilometre away which meant their behaviour had changed by the time we arrived. They were now restfully swimming in one direction but our arrival was greeted with curiousity. Some individuals swam within 30metres of our vessel and performed the odd acrobatic move on occasion. A very good tour with the white beaked dolphins.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: We are definitely progressing deeper into winter, as we left the harbour still in the dark! It was freezing cold as well, but nothing new here. The perk of leaving when it's still night is that we could witness the slow sunrise during the tour. It started with a faint light yellow color covering the sky more and more, until the sun finally painted the sky with orange and the clouds with pink! To top it all, we were sailing on calm waters, reflecting the landscape nicely. Our exploration of the bay was pleasant overall, and it was fruitful! We ended up in an area where there was about 20 white-beaked dolphins frolicking around! We found them because one was jumping out of the water again and again, in a tireless spur of energy. Soon the dolphins were spread out all around us, and coming close to the boats intermittently to have a closer look at us. And it lasted for a while! It was a super nice encounter, and a refreshment after the last rough days with no sightings. Back to business!
