Tour at 13:00

Report from Eldey: Very similar conditions this afternoon as to the morning, with the strong easterly wind blowing across the bay. This however, did not prevent our first cetacean sighting occuring early in the tour. Just as we left the harbour and made our way passed Engey, a pod of up to five white-beaked dolphins were cruising in the surf around the whale watching boats. They seemed quite curious, surfacing within 10metres of the boat. The dolphins were upstaged by the smallest cetaceans in our waters, the harbour porpoise. Around 15 petite porpoises were seen creating a lot of splash as the quickly made their way passed our boat. The porpoises came exceptionally close and gave all on board an incredible view. They were not the shy animals that their reputation would suggest on todays encounter. Lastly, dolphins were seen once again. A very enjoyable tour.

Tour at 09:00

Report from Eldey: A blustery winters morning. 10-12m/s Eastery winds made for a smooth sailing out into the bay It was course a lot colder and windier on the way home. We were happy to see lots of feeding birds in the bay, two large flocks of feasting seagulls, we were thus surprised to not see any cetaceans (whale, dolphins and porpoises). A few passengers came to us at the end of the tour to let us know they saw a white-beaked dolphin jump, then came to the boat and then swam away but unfortunately it was not seen by others or the crew, We offered our passengers complimenatry tickets to come again for free in the next two years. Hopefully better luck will be with us on the next tour.
